Why does the app need “Display over other apps” access?
The permission allows the floating script and its compact controls to appear above the app you are recording or presenting in. See Through Script Reader does not use it to read the content underneath the overlay.
How do I start the teleprompter?
Open or create a script, tap Start Prompter, then switch to the app you plan to use. Tap the ✦ Script pill to open the floating controls.
How do I move to another part of a script?
Open the floating controls and use the Script position slider, Earlier, Later, or Top. Manual movement pauses automatic scrolling so you can resume from the exact place you choose.
How do I stop the floating prompter?
Drag the ✦ Script pill toward the bottom dismiss target and release it over the X. You can also choose Stop prompter from the floating controls or use the in-app stop option.
Why can’t I tap or swipe the app underneath?
Use a narrower prompter width or leave gesture-safe side margins in Settings. The script layer is designed to pass touches through, but Android may treat highly opaque overlays differently on some devices.
Will app updates delete my saved scripts?
A normal update installed over the existing app should preserve private app data. Scripts may be removed if you uninstall the app first, clear its storage, or install a differently signed build. Export a backup before major changes or moving to another phone.
How do backup and restore work?
Settings includes Export backup and Import backup. Export creates a readable JSON file containing your scripts and selected settings. Import can merge scripts or restore the backup. Store the file somewhere you trust.
Does the app record video or audio?
No. The current product is a teleprompter overlay and does not request camera or microphone access. You continue using the recording app you prefer.
Why did the overlay disappear?
Confirm that Display over other apps access is still enabled. Some phones may stop background work aggressively; reopening See Through Script Reader and starting the prompter again should restore it. Keeping optional notification controls enabled may also help keep the active service visible.
Where are my scripts stored?
Scripts are stored in the app’s private area on your phone. They are not visible as ordinary files unless you deliberately export a backup.
